Review

Sony’s recent basketball titles have been largely ignored by hoops fans, partially because of the consistent excellence of 2K’s games and the increasing quality of EA’s NBA Live series.  Sadly, it’s also partially because Sony’s games haven’t been very good.  This year’s offering for the PSP, NBA 10 The Inside, seems to recognize its on-court weakness, and supplements its inferior gameplay with a huge array of game modes and mini-games.  Believe it or not, for the most part, it works.

  • Rumble Roses XX

The vixens of wrestling are back! Sure, Rumble Roses™ XX delivers the visual "enhancements" that you would expect for a next-generation game, but this is more than just another pretty face.

Get in the ring and unload submission holds, reversals, and an increased number of other new moves to take down your opponent. Go online and team up with another beauty in the all-new Tag Team mode, or compete in a free-for-all to determine who is Queen in the all-new Battle Royal mode. Fight fair or fight dirty—humiliation is the name of the game.

  • Underground Pool

In Underground Pool, you'll chalk up your cue and take to the tables in the ultimate 8 and 9-Ball Pool game for the Nintendo DS. Real world physics mean the table plays true -- so you'll have to be at your best. Take on 16 opponents across 8 of the toughest pool clubs around. Test yourself in 8 and 9-ball gameplay, in 8 unique pool halls. Support for 4-person multiplayer. 8 unique pool halls Up to 4 player multiplayer

  • American Gladiators

The player begins at level one with five events to conquer: Powerball, Assault, Human Cannonball, Joust, and the Wall. I started out with Joust, although I found this mini-game different from the version on TV. The initial concept is the same: knock a Gladiator off of the platform with a giant jousting stick before he or she does the same to you. However, instead of one gladiator, there are up to four (depending on how quickly you can take them out), and you must jump from platform to platform to get to them in a way that resembles a platformer—definitely not what I expected to find here. • We Ski

In We Ski, up to four skiers can test their skills on more than a dozen runs from the bunny slopes to the most challenging Black Diamonds. Not only can players carve through the trails using the motion-based controls but they can also mix in the Wii Balance Board for a whole new level of realism. Players can ski using their own Mii™ or create a new character with a host of customizable options including changeable face and body types. Boosting the customization feature, additional skis, poles, goggles, and costumes can be unlocked.

We Ski features an entire mountain to explore, complete with a ski school, freestyle skiing, moguls and slaloms, photography, and a variety of other events. Players can even try their hand at night skiing while enjoying the spectrum of fireworks that color the sky. With We Ski no more long drives to the snow will be necessary to enjoy a day of shredding the mountains.
