When some creature escapes into space with Princess Peach, Mario gives chase, exploring bizarre planets all across the galaxy.

Players run, jump and battle enemies as they explore all the planets in the galaxy. Since this game makes full use of all the features of the Wii Remote, players have to do all kinds of things to succeed: pressing buttons, swinging the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk, and even pointing at and dragging things with the pointer.

Since he’s in space, Mario can perform mindbending jumps unlike anything he’s done before. He’ll also have a wealth of new moves that are all based around tilting, pointing and shaking the Wii Remote.

Game: Super Mario Galaxy
Genre: Platformer
Platform: Nintendo Wii

When the Super Mario Brothers series began with its humble, homely roots on the Nintendo Entertainment System it started the platformer genre as it would be known for years to come. Some would argue that there were platformers before it, but none captured the gameplay style that future games would emulate. Super Mario Galaxy brings this saga to a close and acts as a book end for the genre as a whole.

The game begins with something out of fan fiction: the Mushroom Kingdom being seiged by airships led by both Bowser and Magikoopa. They lay waste to it and take the castle, with the help of a large space ship, into outer space. The entire scene is more dramatic and cinematic then the rest of the Mario games combined. Mario jumps to follow and is brought on a journey far out of the kingdom and into the galaxy.

  • Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage

The Bandicoot suffers worse than Spyro in Crash Purple (which shares ties with Spyro Orange), if only for the fact that his last couple of GBA adventures were actually pretty great, and managed to approximate the gameplay of Naughty Dog's PSone Crash classics. In hopes of keeping the two titles' gameplay and design similar, Crash Purple now just feels like another watered-down platformer with some mildly amusing minigames.

  • Project Zero

Created by the Tecmo development team responsible for the Deception series of games,Fatal Frame is a survival horror title based on the ancient belief that a camera can capture one's soul. As Miku, the younger sister of Mafuyu Hinasaki, players must explore Himuro Mansion in search of the girl's missing brother. The title is apparently based upon a true story, though certain aspects of the game have no doubt been fabricated to make it a more enjoyable video game experience.
