- Beautiful Katamari-Xbox 360
- Posted 10 months, 2 weeks ago by aquaghost23
The King of All Cosmos, The Prince, and the all of the cousins are back for the fourth installment (first on the Xbox 360) in the wacky, over the top, sarcastic, fantastic and very familiar Beatuiful Katamari.
This time the Prince is left cleaning up the mess after the King of all Cosmos goes all "Jimmy Connors" in a tennis match blasting a serve into space creating a Black Hole threatening all life in the solar system. How, you might ask, would you fix a problem of galactic proportions? Roll up a bunch of crap into a ball and have the King turn it into Planets, Moons, and all other types of space junk all in order to roll all of that up in space in order to plug that bad boy up. Sounds logical right? Maybe not, but it sure is fun to roll up everything from mah jong tiles to 80 story sky scrapers, as well as everything inbetween and much further beyond into a wonderful ball of joy.

The gameplay is pretty much the same as was with all of the previous Katamari games just adapted for the Xbox 360 controller, the crazy Japanese Ultra-Pop music has returned as well to satify your eardrums, and the King and his off the wall bizarre witty comments all complete the game but it just seems like same song different verse. All of those elements are what made the franchise so popular and such a fun, quirky oddity. The addition of online muti-player battle and two player co-op has spiced up the mix a little bit and makes for an interesting break from the story paly. Its a very fun game to play in increments, but the novelty that has been the staple of this franchise wears thin after a Katamari or two.

All in all, I would say that if you have enough love for Katamari or you have played and enjoyed any of the other three games, you should pick this one up or rent it to get your routine Katamari fix in High Definiton, to everyone else, check this game out, there is something that will catch your interest for a while at least. Beautiful Katamari is a wonderful guilty pleasure that will hopefully be able to evolve and change as the franchise ages.
Now I think that the King of all Cosmos has something to say to everyone now. King, go on ahead...

This game was very enjoyable in a small Japanese kid kind of way
You know, I bought We Love Katamari two years ago and I'm still playing it. For some reason it never grows old. The gameplay is pure genius. The thing I still can't figure out is why the heck they release this one for this crappy console. I swore I would never buy a 360, but now I seem to need to do it just so I can play this game. Man, it feels like selling your soul to the devil... -_-
Good review, though. Could have been a little more in depth, but good. :)
awww...we don't get to see the Cosmo King's big buldge anymore?
