About a week ago I had the chance to play the final build of Fury with Auran games, the developer. They were also kind enough to answer questions about what they hope to accomplish and what the future holds for their competitive online RPG. For clarification below are some terms used and people mentioned.

PEW PEW INTERVIEW STARTS HERE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jonathan Cooper – Me
Connie Hewitt – Lead QA of Fury
Paul Whipp – Producer of Fury
Tony Hillam– CEO of Auran Games
PVP: Player versus Player Combat
PVE: Player versus Non-Player Characters (Monsters)
Note: Part of Fury’s business model involves offering players the opportunity to purchase in game money with real currency.Jonathan Cooper: I know it’s early and the game isn't even out, but what does the future hold for Fury? More arenas? More schools? Connie Hewitt: Definitely more arenas!
Paul Whipp: More arenas, definitely.
Paul Whipp: Probably not. The four schools create a balanced game that can be build on indefinitely (like the colors in MTG (ok I know there are five of those))
Connie Hewitt: New abilities for schools are very possible.
Jonathan Cooper: So why sell in game money for real cash? What came about making that decision? Paul Whipp: Many players want extra gold so we let them get it.
Jonathan Cooper: Fair enough. Jonathan Cooper: Any plans to add any PVE at all? Paul Whipp: No. We have bots that allow players to train but Fury is about competitive play
Tony Hillam: future PvE will be competitve based not grind based
Jonathan Cooper: How so? Tony Hillam: as in "get the high score to clear a dungeon" type stuff - but that is a ways off yet
Tony Hillam: focus right now is PvP
Jonathan Cooper: Ah, ok. So right now what is the cap for PVP? How many vs. how many? Tony Hillam: at release Bloodbath = 24 man FFA
Tony Hillam: Vortex = 8 v 8 CTF variant
Tony Hillam: 8v8 sry
Tony Hillam: and 4 v4 Elimination
Tony Hillam: (plus training grounds = 4 human 4 bots)
Tony Hillam: next major game type will be Fortress = 32 v 32 node capture game which is really a client side rendering limit rather than server imposed cap
Jonathan Cooper: Wow, ETA on that? Tony Hillam: ETA? We're in the games industry - they don't exist :)
Tony Hillam: but Soon (TM)
Jonathan Cooper: Let me guess, "when it's done?" Tony Hillam: No - when its done and its FUN!
Tony Hillam: ;)
Jonathan Cooper: Good rule. So what type of gamer is the target for Fury? The MMO crowd? Tony Hillam: A mix
Tony Hillam: we're part mmo part rpg part fps
Tony Hillam: "low hanging fruit" = disenchanted MMOers who can't find a good pvp game
Jonathan Cooper: So most of MMO players? Tony Hillam: our goal is to be Number 1 in PvP
Tony Hillam: I think 5 million of WoW players are happy and 4M ready to play FURY:D
Connie Hewitt: We don't ask them to quit WoW...that gives us an edge :)
Jonathan Cooper: Ambitious goal. How has the reaction of players been so far? Tony Hillam: a huge range of reactions
Tony Hillam: from "this is the best pvp game ever"...
Tony Hillam: to "its a button mashing game"
Tony Hillam: of course the buton masher basically never figured out how to play
Tony Hillam: that has been our bigget hurdle - getting fair fights during beta
Jonathan Cooper: The game seems to have a big learning curve. Tony Hillam: new players would come in - play against 3 month beta veterans and get mugged
Tony Hillam: this is why we introduced the new Training Grounds
Tony Hillam: to give players a low threat contest
