Square-Enix to Show Crystal Chronicles at GDC
Posted 11 months, 3 weeks ago by Coop

The Game Developer’s conference is rapidly approaching and with the old E3 dead and companies opting out of having large gaming showings for the Consumer Electronics Show, GDC is one of the hot spots for major announcements. News trickles from the shows planning stages every day and reveals more secrets to be seen. Today, their website updated with a very special presentation from Square-Enix (or as I like to call them, Squeenix).

WiiWare Project Lifecycle: FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES, THE LITTLE KING
Speaker: Fumiaki Shiraishi (Square-Enix), Toshiro Tsuchida (Producer, Square-Enix)
Date/Time: TBD
Track: Game Design
Secondary Track: Production
Experience Level: All

Session Description

This session presents an in-depth look at the development process of Square-Enix's WiiWare launch title, FINAL FANTASY CHRYSTAL CHRONICLES: THE LITTLE KING. The development team's motivations to create WiiWare game will be explained, as well as difficult decisions made when faced with the task of creating a contemporary game within a 40MB memory limitation.

Idea Takeaway

The attendees will learn about the processes and flows used to create THE LITTLE KING, and also about certain unique aspects of Square-Enix development.

Intended Audience

Anyone interested in learning about what motivates Square-Enix game designers to create their products, as well as anyone interested in making WiiWare games.

At the show they will hopefully clue in gamers and new developers onto the limitations and benefits of WiiWare. Gamervision.com will report on all the events of the GDC as it happens this February.

Here is the only known footage of the game. Look in awe at...a Final Fantasy game.
