How strange would it have been to have heard America's 42nd president's voice in a video game? It seems like something that wouldn't even be attempted, but fear of being turned down didn't stop Bethesda from asking William Jefferson Clinton to voice President Eden in Fallout 3. In an interview with Edge, Lev Chapelsky brought up some real-life celebrities that were asked to voice characters in Bethesda's post-apocolyptic wasteland.

What project did you ask Bill Clinton for?
I think that might have been to play the president in Fallout 3. Wouldn’t that have been brilliant? You get to that point in game and you hear that voice in the ether coming from off-camera and you’re like, ‘I know that guy!’

Sadly, they received the expected reply of ‘The former president will not participate in one of your videogame products, thank you very much’, shooting down what might have been one of the coolest jobs Bill Clinton could ask for. Granted, there wasn't actually a true presidential role for Clinton to fill. President Eden was the leader of the Enclave, a group attempting to rebuild the country after nuclear war with the Chinese. The Enclave, for those who haven't played any Fallout games, aren't the most noble of people, so it's not really a surprise at all that Clinton's people said no. 

But are we nearly at that point? Presidential candidates will show up on talk shows, comedy programs, and do radio gigs, when will video games show up on a potential president's itinerary? Obama placed ads on Xbox Live during his campaign, what's next?
