Final Fantasy XI Boss Takes 24 Hours to Beat?

A new patch has added some new bosses to Final Fantasy XI, including the somewhat ridiculously resilient Pandemonium Warden. A guild named Beyond the Limitation attempted to take down the Warden, but had to quit after 18 Hours of combat. One of the guild leaders reported, “People were passing out and getting physically ill. We decided to end it before we risked turning into a horrible new story about how video games ruin people’s lives.”
They estimated that it would have taken an additional five or six hours to beat the Pandemonium Warden, and had to question their abilities in the game. The boss changed forms every few hours, and when they finally decided to call it quits, the enemy was in it’s 20th form. They are also one of the only guilds to take down the highest-level boss in the game without glitching it, so they weren’t screwing up the Warden battle.
I don’t know who annoys me more here, the people in the guild or Square-Enix. Sure, the people who developed this boss and thought that it was something people would enjoy are crazy, but nothing in the game makes you fight this specific boss. He may have amazing items to take, but Final Fantasy XI isn’t focused on Player versus Player, so there isn’t really any excuse to feel forced to fight this boss. There are other enemies to fight, other bosses to kill, and more loot to take, the Pandemonium Warden is simply natural selection in this game – seeing who is dumb enough to actually try and take him down.

This is just ridiculous. I played FFXI for 4-5 years and I must say, besides a few friend I made on there it was the biggest waste of time. I did all that endgame stuff, Sea, Sky, Sea, Kings, Dynamis, etc. Got most of my end game equips for that smooth killing of bosses here and there. Definitely not worth the time it takes to get the things, waiting a few days for some things that don't even drop an item 100%, or even 25% of the time is bad.
This boss is no different, it's going to drive those hardcore player of the game to try and take it down. Wasting more of their lives for something that probably drops crap. It's all pretty sad.
Anyway the best thing I EVER did in that game was, well, quit.

Jack Bauer can definitely find a way, within 24 hours, to defeat this monstrosity. If not Jack, I'm sure Kate can. Wait. That's right, she sucks.

First of all... this isn't WoW. Players in FFXI do not get gear to beat out other players because the gear is used to make fights like this much easier and faster. Such as: Gods (Sky - Rize of Zilart), Assault, Salvage, Missions (Zilart, Promathia, Treasures of AU, Campaign battle) as well as meriting.
For the longest time no one in the game could beat Absolute Virtue, but SE stepped up and gave the players a video of the them beating the NM successfully. Soon after players were able to take it down a little smoother. Once again we are presented with a new NM that challenges players and HNMLS (high notorious monster Linkshells, not Guilds...) to find a strategy to defeat it.

this game is def. a joke, i somehow played 40 hours of the game, and it had its good points, but overall just didnt feel right and you are correct, Square-Enix did nothing to really tie this together and to remind people, hey its Final Fantasy, COME PLAY!!
Tough boss battles in MMO's are good if they are done right. You want them to be tough, you want people to die trying, you want there to be a challenge, but this is too much and to me its ridiculous.

But think of it this way... this new idiot boss is like a dangling piece of candy in front of a bunch of cavity ridden children. They know it's a bad idea.. but they HAVE to have it!
Besides, part of that accomplished feeling when beating a FF game is destroying the ultimate bosses, like Ultima Weapon. It's like, you don't have to do it, but it's a tease, and to me at least, an FF game doesn't feel completely done until you do it. Square-Enix is once again failing miserably to remind people that this junk game is still an FF, even if only in name.
Like I said earlier, I'm definitely not a fan of the Square-Enix Final Fantasies, and this is no exception at all. I hated this game.
So my final response? I blame Square-Enix yet again for succeeding in another ridiculous and failed attempt to pretend what they're doing is interesting. Instead, they've just annoyed me more (as if that was even possible) and validated every point I've made about this joke company.

I don't think its dumb to try and take him down, I think it's dumb to still be trying after 18 hours, hell i really doubt I would have still been going after 2 hours on 1 boss.
