Gamestop to Offer Wii Rain Checks
Posted 13 months ago by Coop

Having trouble getting that special someone the gift they want this Christmas? Tired of standing outside of Best Buy at 4am only to find out they didn’t get a shipment of Wii’s in that day? Done trying to snipe one on Ebay? Well, you are in luck. No – Gamestop isn’t getting in a huge shipment to meet demand, but they are getting in a huge shipment of papers that say something to that effect.

Starting soon you will be able to pay in full for a Wii to receive one in January from Gamestop stores around the country. Nintendo has sealed the deal with Gamestop to sell tens of thousands of Wii Rain Checks.

"A certificate needs to be matched to a specific Wii which needs to be matched to a specific store. Only this retailer has the ability to pull off such a program," said Fils-Aime in regards to why GameStop will be the exclusive partner for this initiative. Source

While it may not be as good as being able to play Super Mario Galaxy in 2008 it beats having to deal with complete disappointment under the tree. Plus, it doesn’t look like this issue is going to resolve itself anytime soon. The demand for the Nintendo Wii is insane, and this goes along with more proof that it isn’t Nintendo trying to mess with consumers.

I still can't believe how crazy the demand for Wii is one year later. Things like this make me so relieved that I don't work for GameStop anymore. Nothing says Christmas like some soccer mom screaming at you because she can't get a Wii for her spoiled brats!
