Guitar Hero IV Rumors: Vocals, Local Bands?
Posted 4 months ago by Coop

I have made it clear to anyone who follows my articles or listens to the Somethingcast: I am obsessed with Activision's Bobby Kotick. He has consistently made an ass of himself, announcing misinformation, making up statistics, and just sounding like an idiot. I love him, he rules, and I would be willing to say he is giving Peter Molyneux a run for his money in 2008's "Boob of the Year" award. This time, in the saga that is Bobby Kotick's life, he has come out with information about Guitar Hero IV, which he states will branch out musically in several interesting ways.

The first tidbit of news is the more obvious one: Guitar Hero IV will likely feature more then just guitars. While it has been rumored and leaked by musicians in the game, the addition of a microphone would not only be expected, but too easy to ignore. While I doubt we will see a drum attachment for the Guitar Hero franchise, I don't think Activision has an excuse for leaving vocals out of GHIV. Hell, they could even justify it by pointing out the many band leads that play guitar while singing. A drum kit is expensive to manufacture and involves several additions for the title, a microphone costs about six bucks and can be coded to pass you if you breathe into it at the right times.

The second section is more of a "Kotickism," where Bobby says that "The fourth installment of the franchise will also let players jam along with local bands from their area." Depending on how you take this quote, Bobby Kotick is either saying that you could invite people over your house to play Guitar Hero who happen to be in bands, or the game will somehow be able to have local bands from every city in the game. Either you are getting a cookie, or Activision plans on giving you a Porsche. Be sure to check back with Gamervision for all of your Bobby Kotick news, reviews, and blogs, as he continues to be the coolest man alive.

I loved GHIII when it first launched, but the more I played it, the more I realized it just didn't feel right when compared to the other two.

GHII may have been the same formula, but they fixed the 2-player mode big time. I played the shit out of GHII both on PS2, then later on 360. I miss that kind of addictability from the Guitar Hero series, since I was a huuuuuuge fan since literally before the first game even officially launched.

But yeah, it's all about Rock Band now. They really did it right the first time.

"heh, I don't know why.. but Guitar Hero stopped being fun at the 3rd one."

to me, GH was no longer enjoyable after the first one. I bought the second one, and within days, realized it was EXACTLY the same game.

Who gives a crap about GH. Rockband or bust.

So considering I live in Delaware, that means that I can actually get to play some spinto band. Nice!
