There are certain rumors in the gaming industry that refuse to die. Often, it is the wishful thinking of the gaming community that keeps speculative news stories afloat even after years of official denial. One classic example is Rare porting Goldeneye onto the Xbox Live Arcade, which has constantly been denied by every company involved. This just goes to show that it will take much more then an “official denial” to keep gamers from believing whatever they want to believe.

Recently, a tipster sent 1UP a little tidbit of news saying that they have been given a chance to look over the script for Bioware’s upcoming MMORPG (Ma-morp-ah-ger). From the looks of it, it appears that another log has been thrown onto the fire of the Knights of the Old Republic MMO rumor. The document details an RPG set in the KotOR universe where Jedi and Sith battle alongside soldiers, politicians and nobles. Players choose a side and battle in the expansive, interesting world that Bioware has spent years developing.

They were also given a chance to read about some portions of the game that don’t sound reminiscent of many MMOs out there. Apparently the dialogue-heavy sequences Bioware is best known for may carry over to their first online-focused title.

“The script goes on to show an exchange between the player and a character named Fuse, a naive bomb designer. The portions of the script that we received are fairly heavy with dialog, which isn't typical for an MMORPG, but it does read very much like a script to a KOTOR game. This could mean that the two projects are still separate. On the other hand, the game was described to the tipster as an MMO, and "heavy dialog" is practically BioWare's calling card.”

I have said it several times at this point, but I really want this rumor to be a reality. Being a huge fan of every participating party and even the ill-fated Star Wars Galaxies, this would be a dream come true for the gamer in me who wants to play another MMO without joining the sheep flocking towards Blizzard.
