- PS3 GTAIV Outselling 360 Version 3:1

Website MVC had an article recently that discussed the sales battle about to occur between Microsoft and Sony with Grand Theft Auto IV. For the most part it was the same old story, with some saying people prefer GTA on PlayStation consoles, and others saying the downloadable content will rein supreme, but one interesting fact came about: UK Online Supermarket Asda has said that the PS3 version is outselling the Xbox 360 version 3:1.
“Both titles have generated great interest on the Asda website, with strong pre-orders, and the PS3 version is selling three times that of 360, which is surprising and not in line with what we’d expect,” said Asda’s head of games
It is definitely worth looking in to, as it does sort of put some validity in Sony’s recent words bashing DLC and saying that the PS3 version will still sell well, but this statistic is flawed in dozens of ways. Firstly, Asda is a British store, and the UK sales charts have been leaning the way of Sony for several months now. Secondly, it is a freaking Supermarket, and I am not too sure how they work over in the UK, but I don’t see many people running out to A&P to pick up videogames, and I am fairly sure that it isn’t the place that “hardcore” gamers go to buy titles. Thirdly, and most importantly, actual numbers aren’t given, so for all we know the sales numbers could actually be three for the PS3 and one for the Xbox 360.. However, this is likely not the case.
Do you expect to see the same to happen in America? Does any of this matter, as some random mediocre sports game is bound to outsell anything that comes out in the UK this year? Only time will tell, and we will keep you updated.

Same with Sarah and DaDDee. I was getting it for the PS3. but umm. I sold me sole to microsoft.
I agree with Sarah in staying with our GTA roots, but once again the 360 lured me in with the promises of future DLC....
I think it's pretty much localized in specific stores, local EBGames here in Downtown montreal are saying the 360 has preorders in the matter of 6 to 1 compared to the PS3. Though, if history backs me up on this, UK is Sony Land, so coming from there it wouldn't surprise me the PS3 is selling better.
I seriously considered getting GTA IV on the PS3 instead of 360, since I played all of the other GTA games on the PS2 and hated playing them on the original Xbox. But in the end, 360 won out.
