- Red Alert 3 Announced!
- Posted 11 months ago by Coop
OH. HELL. YES.
The April edition of just about anything is not to be trusted. Usually they are filled of promises of Sonic in Smash Brothers and Dragon Quest on the DS and Final Fantasy VII remakes, none of which are to be trusted. PC Gamer tries its best to stay away from that type of “journalism,” and its April cover story has me grabbing ammunition and securing the bomb shelter. The image is of an artistically stylized woman dressed in typical post-cold-war communist garb next to the words RED ALERT 3.
So far…that is all we know. According to RPS there will be an official announcement tomorrow with concrete information on the game. An educated guess would set it after the events in Red Alert 2, and I would bet me bottom’s dollar that it will use the Command and Conquer 3 engine. No platforms are announced as of yet, but being on the cover of PC gamer would be a confirmation of sorts of a Windows release, and I would hope for a 2008 release.
Some consider the original Red Alert to be the beginning of the modern real-time-strategy and, well, I would have to agree. It is also one of the few games that after all this time still holds up and is just as playable now as it was then. Whether or not that is a commentary on how little the RTS has changed in all these years is worth asking, but the games remain just as fun and I cannot wait for this sequel.

omg. I remember playing the original command and conquer red alert on the PS1. great times...
I'm trying to think of a good "IN SOVIET RUSSIA, ALERT REDS YOU" line but there is just nothing there to work with.
