Sonic Unleashed Experiences Release Date Transformation
Posted About 1 month ago by Coop

Sega has announced that, despite the popular (and distributor) belief that Sonic Unleashed would hit store shelves on November 18th, less than 12 hours from now, their upcoming title will have a more relaxed release schedule. I wish I was able to do that sort of thing in life; tell someone I'd finish something on a Tuesday, and reveal that I'd only do a little bit that Tuesday, and slightly more on the Tuesday after, possibly finishing up a few weeks down the line.

The Wii and PS2 versions will, indeed, be out tomorrow. If Sonic and the Secret Rings was any indication of what we can expect it means that I'll be happy with it, but no one else will be. Next week will see the Xbox 360 version's release, and the PS3 will find it's blue-blur fun on the mumblemumble of December. This might be bad news for you, but it’s good news for reviewers – we’ll have a chance to actually play this week’s games before worrying about being disappointed by next week’s.

Anyone plan on picking Unleashed up? Despite the awfully silly Werehog levels we saw at E3 I’m holding out hope for the little guy, he’s due a good one after the mediocrity Sega’s put him through for the past few years. I'm not sure which version to pick up, though, PS3's December release might be the best bet...

I'll definitely give this one a rent. The old-school Sonic platforming looks pretty fun, and the Werehog bits don't look THAT bad. I'm interested to try this one out sometime.

Just not anytime soon. My backlog is pretty damn full.

You are so right about this being good news for reviewers, when I read that I just felt a wave of relief.

I don't now if teh HD versions still suffer from dips in frame rate, but apparently the Wii and PS2 versions run at a constant 30 FPS. Maybe taht'S why it's slightly delayed? Naw, That's way too late to release even by one week.

I'm asking for the Wii version for Christmas; Animal Crossing is already my November game.
