- Too Human Co-Op Cut Down, New Footage
- Posted 3 months, 2 weeks ago by Coop
Good news/bad news coming from San Francisco today. The good: Microsoft has announced that Too Human, the Silicon Knights title that has been in development since the original PlayStation, will be coming out in August. The bad news is that the game will not feature the originally intended four-player co-op, and instead will be brought down to two. The excuse is that the idea was overly ambitious, and the original goal was unable to be reached, which is interesting as plenty of recent games have been able to pull off the four-player experience.
The trailer is very inconsistent. Some scenes, namely the shooting sections, look fantastic. The graphics are really nice and the hit detection seems on, and I can see myself really digging the final product. Other parts, especially one near the middle when the character is smashing the ground with a melee weapon, look horrible. He is stunning enemies or something, hitting the floor, and I got bored just watching it. The cooperative feel of it also seems kind of strange, as in half of the clips the second character is somewhere off-screen, so the concept of this being the “co-op trailer” is moot.
I am still excited for this for the same reason I am excited for Haze: I love the developer. Silicon Knights created one of the most imaginative games of the last generation with Eternal Darkness, and if even half of that brilliance is captured in Too Human it should be a success. I look forward to playing it when it comes out in August, and pray that it finally makes the date.
