- Test Samples: Fable 2 Pub Games

To be perfectly honest, the only reason I was even remotely excited about this Arcade release was the hope that Coin Golf would be in the mix. Instead, we get slots, Roulette with dice, and an infuriating Tower game. Standard games of chance. If cards and dice and leaving it all to chance aren't your thing, you're going to be disappointed if you dropped the 800 points on this game.
Of course, if you got it free because you pre-ordered Fable 2, you might like it better because your putting coin in your pocket at no expense but a five dollar deposit.
You get three games, with a handful of different types...
Fortune Tower: You begin with three cards, one turned over at the top, the Gate Card they call it. You are offered a payout determined by the cards you lay out. However, if you press on, you run the risk of a Vertical Pair. When two of the same cards line up top to bottom, they burn up, and causes Misfortune. If you have your Gate Card, it takes the place of one of the burned cards and you carry on. If a Hero Card appears in the row, you're safe there. If not, game over. Try again. It's a game of knowing when to stop. A perfect lesson for gamblers.
Keystone: This is the only one I had any fun with. It's basically roulette, where you place bets on what color and number the dice are going to roll up. Simple, a touch addictive, with the mild chance you'll at least walk away with some coin at the end of the day. Still rather irritating.
Spinnerbox: It's a slot machine. Adjust your bet, press the A button, and pray to Avo for a payout. It comes with more complicated versions with more than three spinners going at once, but all the same, I tended to lose my temper and relish the fact I didn't immediately purchase Pub Games in my Fable 2 fervor.
The game boasts about 12 Achievements to bolster your Gamerscore
Am I seeing this correctly? 0 Gamerscore points for the Fabled Financier achievement (Playing Pub Games with your Fable 2 character)? That should at least be 5 or 10 points.
The music is definately a highlight, some bits having a very rowdy tavern sound to them, while a few more have the classic Fable violin/cello/whatever music. So it at least gets points for ambiance.
Still...no Coin Golf.
I'm giving it a 5/10, because if you pay for it, you'll hate it. If you got it free, you have no room to complain.

Glad I didn't fall for this one. I feel sorry for everyone that purchased this set of games in hopes of having more gold than others when the game goes live.
