Bio:

I was born the youngest in a family of three boys and five girls, with 18 years between me and my oldest sister. It wasn’t long before it became obvious there was something wrong with me, as my bones would fracture easily. Walking across the room at my fragile age of 2 I might break a leg. Specialists soon diagnosed me as having Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a rare bone disorder.

Over the years I would break in excess of 30 times. Eventually a number of treatments, with varying degrees of success, helped. But I don’t let medical problems define who I am, and I don’t get depressed about them or obsess over them.

In 1987 we moved to Melbourne, Florida. I took part-time classes at the local community college and eventually got an AA degree in 1992. I had wanted to go further, but the only 4-year college in the area had no arts programs to speak of. Because of my medical problems, I wasn’t inclined to go away to school.

Shortly after graduating from college got a job at a local software company. I worked there for nearly 8 years, in sort of an odd-job capacity. When I wasn’t answering technical questions by phone, I would be developing web pages, writing manuals, or testing software. It was challenging and I learned a lot about computers.

In 1999 I injured my wrist and needed to take a break from day to day work on computers, and was forced to quit my job. I looked for other work that didn’t require so much typing, but with just an Associates degree I found it was very difficult for a disabled person to get work in Melbourne - or even snag an interview.

At my love's encouragement, I signed up to go to college online. Unfortunately it didn't go well and I didn't get far.

Since then dropping out of school, I've gotten a good job working for a Conway Data's Site Selection Online, and expanded my knowledge of the business world. I even have business cards now. Isn’t that exciting?
