LevelHead Takes Motion Controls To A New Level
Posted 10 months, 1 weeks ago by Joe

You have to love open-source projects. New Zealander Julian Oliver is working on a little game called Levelhead, which takes place on a small cube about the size of pool ball. An Echochrome-like walking man continues on a straight line, leaving it up to the player to flip his cube like world in a ll 3 dimensions, leading him to an exit. In the video, you can see the demonstrator add an additional cube, opening the possibilities for multiple worlds for the character to navigate.

The cube seems to utilize Shotcode-like images on it. A camera picks up and displays the images of this "world" on a monitor. The motion controls seem to be very sensitive, even the slightest movement can change the perspective of the room. This is another exciting project from the growing independent game developers.

How cool would it be if future iterations of this game had you put several blocks next to one another, or even stack them? Then you could move the little man through an entire skyscraper of LevelHeads... Oh the possibilities...

this new shotcode technology looks very interesting, I would like to sit down and actually play with the device before I shelled out any money though.......

I would buy Echochrome on this instead of any other system in a heartbeat.
