Well, my collection is complete. An Xbox 360, PS3, and a Wii all grace my living room. What’s next? New games of course!! On Tuesday, Madden was released on 87 platforms and it was time for me to make a choice. I figured I would go with the shiny black monster because I have four controllers for it and basically have fallen head over heels for my PS3 in recent weeks.
Well, I made my way to GameStop at midnight on Monday and made my purchase. I got home, popped it in, and was treated with a video clip of Brian Dawkins doing a pregame speech that would get Vince Lombardi himself to jump from the grave and pump his fists. I set up a profile and got ready to play my first game. It looked pretty good and played even better. At around 3am, when I faced a dismal “4th and 26”, I decided it was bed time.
The next day we discussed the game at work and I was shocked to find out that I purchased a second rate version of the game. As I watched a side-by-side comparison and saw it with my own eyes, I developed a sinking feeling in my gut. How could I, a self-proclaimed video game guru, have missed this one? Frame rates do matter, especially to me. I bought all three systems so I can have the best versions of every game….and I blew it!!! The thing is this, I would have been perfectly happy with it if I never knew how much better the 360’s version looked and played.
What to do….what to do. Looks like I will be trading in my PS3 copy for a 360 version sometime this weekend. Until then I can play the Bioshock demo and use my “deep slant pattern” plasmids.
