Magical Mustache Monday VOLUME 1 (one day late)
Posted 9 months ago by mikeyraw196

A few months ago, I posted a  list of the Top Five Video Game Mustaches.  I have had some great feedback, and because you the readers spoke, I have decided to rekindle the magic. From here on out, I will post a weekly blog celebrating the cookie dusters of the gaming world.  If anyone has any suggestions or requests, please let me know.

Soda Popinski

Don’t let the pink skin fool you. Soda is all man. Best known for his work in the mustache laden Punch Out series, Popinski has left his mark on gamers everywhere.  At 6’5”, 237 lbs, this Soviet powerhouse packed a punch that would leave Ivan Drago green with envy.  His patented uppercut is still emulated today. In 1982, while training in Moscow, Popinski would grow what later became known as the ultimate F.I.D. (Follicular Intimidation Devise).  Early in his career he was known as Vodka Drunkenski.   As a serious prospect in the heavyweight division, he needed to focus more on training and less on his post fight celebrations.  Soon, he was consuming upwards of 2 liters of vodka a day. Realizing that his life was spinning out of control, Drunkenski began to battle the demons of alcoholism.  Twelve steps later, a sober pugilist emerged with a new name and a new passion for drinking non-alchohlic carbonated beverages. Soda Popinski was born. Despite the dramatic lifestyle change and name swap, his lip remained toasty warm.  Through all the adversity, Popinski knew what the fans expected from him. Whether that stache’ is straining Vodka or generic green pop, it will always remain on the top of my 8-bit list.
