Fun with the PS3
Posted 4 months ago by Ninjapino

I'm no longer in school.  I live in a new town.  I don't know many people here.  Long story short, I have a lot of free time on my hands.  Plus, as many of you know, I'm a PS3 fanboy.  So, what have a I been spending my free time doing?  Tinkering with and finding the little tricks of my beloved system.

Of course, you all know about Remote Play.  It gives you the ability to use your PSP to wirelessly stream all your PS3 data and make it portable.  All your music, all your movies, some games, etc.  Anywhere there is a Wi-Fi connection, you have your data.

The PsP also works as a remote control.  I pretty much have one of those awesome $1000 remote controls with the screens for $200.  Except it doesn't control the lights in my apartment and I can't control volume.

On top of that (as with a 360, I believe) you can stream your data from your PC to your PS3. Now I have it set up so all the data on my PC is streaming to my PS3 and then to my PSP.  Essentually, I have all my data ever made portable.  ..kinda...  One slight problem.  I don't go anywhere near Wi-Fi spots.  I'm home, I'm at work, and some random spots here and there, but never anywhere near a hotspot.

(I also have the problem of my right protected data not being able to be streamed, but I believe I've found a way around that...)

Now, there are some ideas that I have to get around this, but nothing that wouldn't involve a lot of money and a lot of attachments hanging off my PSP.  Hell, I don't even know for certain if it would work.  If I could get this to work, with Skype now available on PsP Slim, I could get rid of my phone and iPod and have just one portable, phone/media player/game system in one.  It would be great.

I have to much fun with this and want to know if any of you have any system tricks up your sleeves.  Or maybe even a way around the Wi-fi issue.  Even not just with the PS3, for the 360, Wii, or anything.

this is pretty cool... makes the high price tag seem worth it if you can use it for all this!

Does anyone know how to wirelessly stream a Mac? I can't get the PS3 to find it on the network.

The whole "right protection" thing I thought I would be able to get around? Yeah, apple already shut the ability down....
