- Atari Sues (Again)
- Posted 2 months ago by Ninjapino
You think they would have realized that this kind of behavior is unexcusable after the whole Gerstmann-gate debacle and Driver before that. But, if you did, you would have been sorely mistaken. Once again, Atari sues over bad reviews. The culprit this time are several unknown reveiw sites, 4Players, Gamer.no, and, the only one I've heard of before, Gamereactor, over the new Alone In The Dark.
Atari started out stating this was because they believed the game to be pirated since the reviewes were posted before the games actual release date. However, the focus quickly switched over to the scores given, ringing at a high of 3 out of 10 from Gamereactor and Gamer.no while 4Players gave it a 68%.

When are they going to learn? Reviews are simply opinon and nothing more. Sueing isn't going to make the game any better. I'm somewhat relieved that all this is happening and becoming a big thing. Their treatment of the situation just makes me angry at them and want to boycott their games. And, hell, if they are getting such crappy reviews, I guess I don't have to worry about missing out on anything. Even if it's games I'm extremly excited about. *sigh* Hey, Atari, how about you start making the games you over-hype actually good instead of wasting time and money suing people?

Atari is upset about this review because something like this can put them out of business. Poor, poor Atari. I don't know where you went wrong....
they sure are uppity about a review. i'm sure the game is lame anyways.
there goes my freedom of speech...when a freak'n game developer can sue someone over an opinion about their shitty products
Yep, spend more time and effort in the game making department and less time in the legal. They wouldn't be whinging if they getting good reviews....
I also read on Kotaku that a reviewer was told to hold their review because Atari only wanted high scores before the game comes out. Shady.
And, no, I apparently can't get links to work right, still....
There's an e at the end of that damn thing for those of you that missed it and can't copy and paste right...
P.S. Yes, I'm an idiot....
