No matter whatever you do for making your gaming rig the latest one, you would be harassed by some games like Crysis which will continue to release throughout the timeline. Experiencing the full visual effects nowadays is a costly deal. All we can do is just dump the money buy a latest graphic card and then enjoy for about a month or two.Just for a month or two, because, after that new games would be released which you know that you could have experienced
much better if you could have bought the latest hardware at that time.
ALTERNATIVE:-
For the people like me who want to stop spending any more and start loving their old PC there is still an alternative.
1.Dont lose your heart and start playing games at lower settings. If the need be turn down the resolution upto 640X480.You have to face the reality or otherwise if you are rich enough then go on spending money throughout your life. However, games nowadays do not allow for going below 1024X768, but why shall we consider playing the latest ones always.
2.Start playing older games. We cannot always bear jawdropping prices of current games. You already know that it is better to buy an older game than rip down each and every new game and play it in animated screenshots than a smooth video just for the sake of completing and knowing the story. The older games are affordable. Dont you consider playing games like POPWW,POPT2T, Maxpayne1&2,etc. as an enjoyment.
3.Dont think that if you want to have a good experience you must have the so called "MADE FOR PROFESSIONAL GAMERS". You could enjoy a game with an average mouse and a keyboard if you are not a born gamer.
4.Consoles nowadays offer more satisfaction than a PC. Some games released are still compatible with PS2 (which has become so cheap). They have a huge list of compatible games, including Burnout series, Tennis, God of war, Mortal Kombat,and the list goes on.
5.If you have completed the whole game twice,thrice,what to do next? Try Modding.Mod your games to unlock new features in it. Play and enjoy the difference with the standard edition.
6.Games such as in GTA series cannot be enjoyed without Cheats. Just think about playing in GTA without exploding a car or without killing the pedestrians in fear that you would generate a wanted level.
Who says that you cant be a gamer if you do not play the latest games?

The first time I played GTA, I didn't run any red lights or speed because I thought the cops would pull me over.

Don't forget indie games kids, they may not always look great but they game play wins in the end... and some of them got that.
To think I played all those hours of GTA and I never really enjoyed it...
Nice article. If you spend money wisely you can play a ton of PC games. Even Half-Life 2 has low requirements, and it is one of the best FPS of all time. Nice nod to Max Payne 2 as well, that game is similarly awesome.
And the lower settings are not always bad, they can be pretty nice looking if you are willing to take the hit. If you don't have the cash for a coolanthyperX2 graphics card sometimes you need to take what you can get.
coming from me, this is weird. because I am a total cheapskate. but 'Jaw dropping prices' ?
You know, SNES games were once 50$. considering everything else has inflated so much, that's not so jaw-dropping.
