5 months into 2008 and we're finally getting your dirty paws on the first wave of WiiWare. Microtransactions are a goldmine for small companies and independent developers, and I couldn't be happier that Frontier Developments decided to cash in on it, and they also managed to pack more fun into a few megabytes than most large companies can pack on to a $50 DVD.

You are Toku; a young boy in a distant quiet village, who is aided by the Ernil, the wind spirit who is set out to destroy an evil force on a distant island. Not much to say about the recycled plot, but as long as it keeps me running right...
The celshaded world was rendered perfectly; from the darkest caves to the bright green grass, and new colorful characters around every turn. The background music is a relaxing mix of Asian flutes and chirping birds when you run through the towns, which will undoubtedly bring back fond memories of your first footsteps in Wind Waker.
Toku's a light weight fellow who is easily blown around in the wind, which makes this 2D platformer much more interesting than any other platformer I've played. You can only walk left and right with the Nunchuk. No attacks or special jumps. Everything is done with the Remote. Jumping up high ledges requires multiple quick sweeps with the Wii remote. This makes jumping from ledge to ledge simple, smooth and painless. To keep yourself from falling too fast, you'll draw zigzags below Toku so he'll drift down carefully. Quick puzzles are scattered around the world which revolve around blowing wind around to your liking, such as spinning a fan, or blowing fire into something. This keeps the game interesting, but they're not satisfying enough. Alas, you're spending 1000 Wii points on 4 hours of gaming. If you have the points to spend, it's well worth your time.

i downloaded this last night and played for about an hour. i found the controls a little hard to work with... maybe it's my setup but i had trouble getting the wiimote to repeat such precise movements.
I believe it was Patton Oswalt who refers to the KFC mashed potato bowl as the "Big Ol Bowl of Failure"...
Mashed potato bowl at KFC.....Hilarious.....
I just got started on this game, and hope to complete it soon. It does look cool.
This game was pretty cute, but I'd rather have a mashed potato bowl at KFC :
