On Kotaku I found this article with a few things to say about Free online play for XBox Live. I don't know if I like that some silver memberships have been able to play for free the games that I've been paying for for three years. I do like, however, that this may be a break in the right direction for Microsoft's heavy-hitting XBox360. If gaming online with XBox Live is going to be for free I wouldn't mind being a part of it.

You know, this makes sense- My friend who had recently purchased a 360 has been able to play online with his Silver membership for quite some time now. With Game for Windows Live going to a free model, it seems like the logical next step...
...But still, as MeLLoWDaDDee pointed out, this is still Microsoft we're talking about. :)
I'm not sure If they'll ever make XBL free. Have we forgotten that Microsoft=Money.....
I'm going to (finally) purchase a 360 within the next month or two, and I have to say one thing I'm not looking forward to buying is Live. I had it for the old xbox, but I always was a little pissed that I had to play games online when I cold always just do it for free on the PC.
You've got to think, with all the partnerships and potential for in-game advertising, perhaps they could reconfigure their online model so it is either a. easily affordable or b. free all-together.
lol free xbox live would make me drop the pc gaming and go back to 360
