PSP owners don’t always have a plethora of choices when it comes to games. For every one that is engaging, entertaining, and graphically pretty, there are three or four with troublesome controls or mediocre gameplay. That’s why it’s always a much bigger deal when a great game comes out on the PSP than on, say, Nintendo’s handheld systems.
Luckily for PSP owners, it looks like this spring is going to be a promising one for the system, and a big part of that is because of the latest installment in the insanely popular and critically acclaimed God of War series. God of War: Chains of Olympus is set for a March release, and after spending a little bit of time with the demo, it seems apparent that PSP owners are going to be pleased.
Chains of Olympus is a prequel to the first God of War game, which will give us some backstory on Kratos and how he came to be so disenchanted with the gods. The demo takes place during the Battle of Attica, in which the player will engage in basic hack and slash killing, button-pushing minigames, and of course, a boss fight against a large and terrifying creature.
Graphically, this game is going to push the PSP to the limits. It’s one of the best-looking (if not the best-looking) games on the system right now. Controls are often an issue on the PSP due to the awkwardness of its one thumbstick, but after spending a few minutes maneuvering with it, it doesn’t seem like it will be a hindrance.
There don’t seem to be any gameplay elements that the PS2 games lacked, but to have a game like this on a handheld system is a great accomplishment for Sony. It’s a new chapter in the Kratos story and a really promising game for Sony’s handheld system. Finally, we’re seeing more of the PSP’s gaming potential.

GOD OF WAR PSP it's mine
I'm still torn between the PSP and DS, but this game might just be a determining factor in my upcoming purchase of a hand held.
PSP is finally starting to rise out of the dust. I played the God of War series on the PS2. Should consider buyin' this one. Anywayz thankz, since I never would have known of its release so soon.
I would sure like to use my PSP again.
...who says things like that?
This game will be sitting at the crossroads of K and A avenues. Kick and Ass, that is!
