- Hands On With Wii's New Nintendo Channel
- Posted 3 months, 3 weeks ago by Sarah
As you may have been made aware by the glowing blue light coming from your little white box this morning, a new channel was made available for the Nintendo Wii. Aptly named the Nintendo Channel, this new update proved that, unlike past added channels (Everybody Votes, anyone?), this one is actually not completely useless.
The Nintendo Channel provides a variety of videos for Wii owners to enjoy, like interviews with game creators, trailers for upcoming games (We Ski had me particularly intrigued) and humorous Nintendo commercials. The channel also allows for downloadable demos of Nintendo DS games, which are playable until the system is turned off. Playing the demos on your DS could not be easier. Simply pick the game you want, turn on your DS, and in seconds the demo becomes available on the handheld system. I have to say, that’s a really nifty feature that’s sure to come in handy in the future.
Since a lot of the past Wii updates have been underwhelming and unnecessary for me (parental controls? No thanks, I’m 25), it was nice to see the Wii get an update that actually makes it a better system. Between this and WiiWare, which should also be launching shortly in the U.S., Wii owners finally have a reason to be excited about their console again.

The big question is can keep downloading the same game demo every time you
start you Wii
It's nice to see that the Wii is blossoming into a full fledged console...(finally)
Hopefully there's at least a few "decent" games available next week when WiiWare gets out.... just in time for my birthday ;)
