PAX Preparations - The Days Before
Posted 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Sarah

Greetings, gamers! As planned, I am now in lovely Seattle, Washington, getting ready for the start of the fifth annual Penny Arcade Expo. I’ve mentioned before that this is my very first PAX, as well as my first trip to Seattle and only my third to the West Coast, so I am pretty damn excited for all of these new experiences. That doesn’t mean that getting prepped for PAX was easy, especially for a bundle of nerves like myself. Here’s the rundown of what I did to get ready this week.

Monday:

After waking up from a dream in which I was going over a never-ending to-do list in my head, I spent most of Monday morning in a mild panic, which is not an unusual state for me to be in. I felt a little better after meeting with my co-workers and finalizing airport carpools, going over the itinerary, and discussing what to bring and what to expect.

Tuesday:

I’m not a particularly girlie girl, but luckily Nikkita helps to bring out the chick in me, so she helped me figure out what I’m going to need for PAX, wardrobe-wise. I bought a couple of new pairs of jeans, even though I hate clothes shopping, so now I’m set not only for PAX, but probably for the next few years as well. Hey, I’m going to be meeting a lot of very important people, so I would like to look sharp. I started getting stuff together that I needed to pack, so that I would have less work to do on Wednesday.

I also went over my schedule for PAX, as far as where I need to be at what time. It’s going to be a busy three days of information overload, and I can’t wait!

Wednesday:

Holy crap! It’s the day before we leave! This is the thought that ran through my mind for most of the day. Packing and organization were my big focuses for the day, as well as constantly reminding myself not to forget anything that I might need, like my driver’s license, DS, PSP, phone, computer, camera, and numerous chargers. These are all things that I normally have with me anyway, so it would be pretty impossible for me to forget them, but I needed to double and triple-check my bags anyway to make sure I had everything.

Then I attempted to get to bed early and get some sleep, since I needed to be up at 3 a.m. the next morning. Awesome!

Thursday:

We’re here! After getting up at 3:00 this morning, leaving for the airport at 4:00, and getting on a plane at 8:00, we have arrived in Seattle tired and severely coffee-deprived. Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing more about the day’s adventures later. Now the real fun begins.
