- Activision Number One Publisher of 2007
- Posted 11 months, 3 weeks ago by Sarah
Despite being involved in one of last year’s biggest catfights with Harmonix, Activision still managed to come out on top. They announced this morning that their market share went up 7.2% last year, making it an astonishing 17.7%. Of course, this jump was due largely in part to Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4, which were among the top-selling games of the year.
Robert Kotick, Activision’s Chairman and CEO, had this to say:
"For the first time in our history, we were the #1 U.S. publisher for the calendar year. We are well on our way to delivering sixteen years of record revenue growth and by far our most profitable year ever."
Nicely done, guys. I wonder how EA is going to react to this. I’m sure they’re not taking kindly to not being number one in anything anymore. My guess is they’ll throw money at everything in sight until they own approximately half of the planet. Hey, guys, I hear GameStop is also plotting world domination; maybe you should team up with them.
