- Atlus Announces 360 Exclusive Zoids Assault
- Posted 2 months, 3 weeks ago by Sarah
Atlus really wants to show gamers that they're committed to the 360. The Japanese publisher already has two games coming out for the 360 this summer in the U.S., Operation Darkness and Spectral Force 3. Apparently, having releases in June and July is simply not enough for Atlus, who want to totally dominate your Xbox 360 this summer. Today they have announced another 360-exclusive strategy RPG, entitled Zoids Assault, which will launch in August of this year.

Zoids Assault will feature lots and lots of "elite war machines", and the strategic gameplay will focus on the command and customization of a zoid army. Although I enjoyed the Operation Darkness demo, I'm not sure how many strategic games I can take in such a short amount of time. I'm also not sure how I feel about, well, robots (other than Joe, of course). Still, it's Atlus, and that name usually means something promising, at the very least.
The full press release is below, and I will be following this title closely. More details to come as they arise.

About Zoids Assault:
When war broke out between the world's two main superpowers, the Guylos Empire and the Republic of Helic, the effects rippled across the globe, dragging other nations into the fight. Two such nations were Maroll and Jamil.
During the war, Maroll's attacks on the neighboring Jamil were devastating, and even a decade after the war had ended, Jamil's economy and infrastructure hadn't fully recovered. Animosity, paranoia, and mutual mistrust between the two nations hindered their ability to find a common ground and complete their peace talks. For ten long years, the two nations found themselves in the middle of a cold war.
After a mysterious explosion at one of Maroll's military bases, two covert ops teams are sent into Jamil territory, their exact mission details never disclosed. Somehow, the events of the present are inextricably linked to the past—to the final days of the war, ten years ago...
Key Features:
• Command a Zoid army - Take control of a fleet of giant biomechanical life forms that blend the assets of beast and machine to create fierce weapons of war.
• Advanced military tactics - Facing armies that far outnumber you means optimizing your tactical advantages. Mastering the concentrated fire tactic, managing the scan gauge and support tactics, and utilizing the Electromagnetic Pulse System will be crucial to your survival.
• First-class customization - Take your units to the next level with upgrades, including melee weapons, rockets, rifles, machine guns, shotguns, cannons, and more
Zoids Assault has been rated "T" for Teen with Fantasy Violence and Mild Language by the ESRB.

Is this based on the old Toonami show? Giant robot animals and such?
Personally I'd rather prefer Atlus announcing Super Robot Taisen Original Generation (and Gaiden) than this, but i'm still happy.... Now if my 360 don't fail me until then..... GTA4 is taking its toll, 3 times now the DVD was detected as a Movie and not a game :/
