- Dragon Quest IV DS Official

A while back, a community poster pointed out that the ESRB had rated Dragon Quest IV for the Nintendo DS. The fourth game in one of Square Enix’s many prolific RPG series, Dragon Quest IV was originally released for the NES in the early 1990s. The DS remake was released in Japan last year, but it looks like the U.S. will finally see this game on September 16, according to the Square Enix teaser site.
The site also lists Dragon Quest V and VI as “coming soon”, so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to imagine that these games will receive similar remake treatments at some point in the future. Some might cite this as another example of Square Enix “milking” a franchise, but for someone who has never played the early Dragon Quest games (like myself), this is a perfect chance to jump into the series. I’ll be checking out Dragon Quest IV when it hits later this year, and stay tuned to Gamervision for more news on more upcoming remakes from this series.
