- ESRB Rates Grand Theft Auto IV
- Posted 8 months ago by Sarah
For those who do not know, video games usually do not receive their ratings until the last few weeks before their release. Up until this point, Grand Theft Auto IV has had an RP rating, which stands for Rating Pending. Of course, we all knew what this game was going to end up being rated, assuming the game didn’t include another Hot Coffee mod.
It’s now official: Grand Theft Auto IV will be released with a Mature rating. The ESRB accompanied the M-rating with the following explanation: “Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, Blood, and Intense Violence.” Man, did not see that one coming!
So, Mom and Dad, make sure to pay careful attention to that little black-and-white box with the big “M” in it before you pick this game up for the little ones. You have no one to blame but yourselves if your kid turns into a homicidal maniac.

In future news: Jack Thompson will sue the ESRB for making this game available to children.
Also, what is the delineation between "strong" and "weak" sexual content?
I am shocked!
Although personally I could never play GTA games without feeling like a bad person.
I'm planning to buy a truckload and sell them at the local elementary schools....just joking....
