Anxious Final Fantasy fans like myself have been waiting for any bit of information on the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII we could get our hands on. As of now, the release date, as well as most of the details surrounding the game, remains a mystery. However, Square Enix has promised that this will soon change, as 2008 will be the year we see… a demo!

What, you were hoping for a release announcement? Yeah, me too, but take what you can get. No date was given for the demo, but it will be made available so that players can get a feel for the new battle system. Also expected in 2008 are “tons of new bits, info on characters and summons, and an unexpected connection between the keywords Cocoon and Farushi.” Yup, everything’s totally clear now.

Having a playable demo is nice and all, since it shows Squenix is on the right track and production on FFXIII is moving right along, but it would still be nice to get an idea of when to expect the game. (Even what year would be nice. My guess is 2009, if we’re lucky.) The only hint given as to when the game is coming out was “I wonder when we’ll be able to sleep.” Um… thanks for clearing up all the mysteries, Squenix.
