Final Fantasy IV DS Coming to the U.S.?
Posted 7 months, 3 weeks ago by Sarah

Final Fantasy IV may have already had two remakes in the U.S. since its original SNES incarnation (back then, it was known as Final Fantasy II), one on the PS1 and one on the Game Boy Advance, but apparently that just wasn’t enough. While these versions may have introduced the game to new generations of fans and cleaned up some of the mistranslated dialogue, they didn’t do much else in terms of giving the game a makeover.

Final Fantasy IV DS launched in Japan last year with enhanced graphics, making it the best-looking the game has ever been. While there’s no date yet on a U.S. release, director Takashi Tokita recently hinted to Nintendo Power that a North American version may be on the way. He also stated that, if there is enough of a demand, a remake of another classic RPG, Chrono Trigger, might be a possibility.

Even though I’m obviously a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, I’m not sure if another FFIV remake is really what Square Enix should be focusing on. Still, it’s worth mentioning that Final Fantasy IV is a great game, and I wouldn’t mind playing it again with nicer graphics. I’m even more interested in a possible Chrono Trigger remake; you better believe I’d pick that up if they re-released it on a handheld. Hear that, Squenix? Get to work!
