- Guitar Hero Passes 15 Million Mark For Song Downloads
- Posted 3 days ago by Sarah
No one likes to talk about how great they are more than Activision. In addition to announcing their incredible sales figures from last year, the publisher also stated that the Guitar Hero franchise (better known as that thing you used to play before Rock Band) has passed the 15 million mark for songs downloaded. As I’m sure Activision will most likely point out for as long as they can, that’s more than Rock Band, which to date only has 10 million songs downloaded.
On one hand, let’s keep in mind that Guitar Hero II launched on the 360 in April of 2006, while Rock Band has only been on the market since last November. So Guitar Hero’s sales figures aren’t as impressive when you consider it got a year-and-a-half head start. On the other hand, considering that the DLC for Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III has been pretty much subpar, I’m kind of surprised that they managed to put up such staggering figures. Enjoy it while it lasts, Activision; if Rock Band can get 10 million downloads in 6 months, I’m guessing your reign isn’t going to last much longer.
