Okay, so maybe I’m a little bitter when it comes to LittleBigPlanet. After all, the PS3 exclusive was supposed to be out last month, but as we all know, that didn’t exactly work out. Right now, it’s listed as having a September release date, but I definitely have doubts about that. There is one bit of good news about LittleBigPlanet’s progress, though: the game is finally approaching alpha.



For those who are a little clueless about the software release life cycle like I am, Wikipedia defines the alpha stage as “the build delivered to the software testers, that is persons different from the software engineers, but usually internal to the organization or community that develops the software.” It’s also one step before beta, “the first version released outside the organization or community that develops the software, for the purpose of evaluation”.

It’s not there yet, so don’t get too excited, but once it reaches alpha, it can finally proceed to beta, and Sony has promised a public beta for this game instead of a regular demo. Hopefully they can accomplish everything they need to and still get this game out before the end of the year. I know I’m not the only one anxiously awaiting this one. Gamervision actually got to experience LittleBigPlanet in all of its pre-alpha glory. In case you don’t know, it went a little something like this.
