Suikoden Gets ESRB Rating For PlayStation Store
Posted 3 days ago by Sarah

Well, this is promising: the ESRB has just rated the first Suikoden game, originally a PS1 release, for the PS3 and PSP. One can only assumes that this means it will be joining the line-up of PS1 Classics available for download over the PlayStation Network. Though I’ve never played any of the games in this RPG series, this one has been recommended to me a number of times and I’ve always been interested in trying it out. Now it looks like I may get the chance without paying ridiculous eBay prices.

The first installment in a long-running series of role-playing games (the latest game, Suikoden V, was released on the PS2 in 2006), Suikoden has been a fan favorite for many years, in addition to receiving generally positive reviews upon its release. Launching in the U.S. in 1996, a year before Final Fantasy VII exploded onto the PS1 and made RPGs mainstream in the U.S., a lot of gamers missed out the first time around. Since PS1 games in good shape, I’m always happy to see more made available through the PS3.

No word on a date yet, and though I wish I could say it was coming soon, PS1 games are sadly added few and far between on the PlayStation Store. There are some games that were rated months ago that I’m still waiting for, so who know when this one will actually show up. When it does, however, I’ll definitely have to shell out a few bucks to have it in my collection.
