THQ Announces Cheerleader Game For Wii Balance Board
Posted 8 months, 2 weeks ago by Sarah

File this one under “things that the Wii balance board should never, EVER be used for.” As female gamers everywhere cry (because, apparently, that’s what us girls do when we’re not busy dreaming about cheerleading), THQ has confirmed All Star Cheer Squad, which will take advantage of the Wii balance board due out in May. The game will also be coming out for the Nintendo DS.

The mildly offensive explanation given by THQ’s Jim Huntley is that “with the explosive growth of the girls gaming market in recent years due to the continued success of Wii and DS, our ongoing goal is to stay at the cutting edge of that success by bringing a brand new property for this segment to these popular systems… In All Star Cheer Squad, players will follow a year in the life of a cheerleader as they learn new cheers, participate in practices and create their own routines to make the squad and eventually become captain.”

Wow, THQ! You’ve really nailed the dream of every girl right on the head. It’s a good thing I don’t have to waste my time playing stupid boy games anymore. Who needs Halo when I can pretend to be a fucking cheerleader? Once again, we have another solid argument on why Nintendo needs to bring back the Official Seal of Quality.

Honestly, I'd be more entertained to see guys play this game. Not because I'd think they'd be gay, but because male cheerleaders are more fun to watch, in my opinion.

I wonder when they'll map the cooking dinner sim to the Wiimote.

Man, it's bad enough that Bring It On got two sequels (Two! And Firefly is canceled after one season! The world isn't fair.), now they're making a cheerleading game?

Totally agree, Nintendo needs that Seal of Quality back.
