- UPDATED: Fable 2 News Revealed
- Posted About 1 month ago by Sarah
Last week, it was reported that big Fable 2 news was on its way. Today, the news seems to have hit the internets, as a Danish website is reporting some new details about Peter Molyneux’s upcoming masterpiece. It’s also being reported that the game is “content complete,” meaning all that’s left to do is fix the 5,000 bugs before Fable 2 will be ready for release. Does this mean that the game is actually going to meet its Fall 2008 release date? There are no guarantees, but this is certainly promising.
Here are some more details about the game, translated by a NeoGAF user:
• There will be no more mini-map, since Molyneux wasn’t a fan. Instead, the game will use a “bread crumb trail,” or a golden line on the ground that will work similar to a GPS system.
• Magic can level up and different levels can be combined to add new effects to spells. Spells will work both close up, for attacks on a single enemy, or from a distance to take out a group. The game will feature eight spells.
• Every house in the game will be for sale, and every piece of property that you buy will unlock something new, like a side quest or skill.
• Fable 2 will be at least 20 times larger than the first game.
• There will be weather and different seasons, which obviously will change as the game goes on.
• Fable 2 will feature semi-interactive cut scenes.
• No sex minigame, just a dark screen and some noises. Unprotected sex will be allowed, predictably with certain consequences.
• Three more Fable sequels are being planned.
That is a whole lot of info on one of my most anticipated games of the year. I get more excited for Fable 2 every time I learn more about it. I know that Peter Molyneux has a history of severely exaggerated (remember how big the first Fable was supposed to be?), but it really sounds like this game is right on track. Hopefully when it launches this October it will live up to expectations better than the first one did.
UPDATE: A number of new Fable 2 screenshots have made the internet rounds since this morning. Check them out below to see combat, spells, foes, weather, and, well, general prettiness. There’s also some new cover art, which I assume will be the final box art when the game launches in October. I can’t wait!

"Fable 2 will be at least 20 times larger than the first game"
So that means this game will be a RESPECTABLE length as opposed to the first game. Although the first game was supposed to be "never ending". Hmmmm........
Hmmm.... could Molyneux be a reliable source? Is this opposite day?
