Valkyrie Profile Coming to Nintendo DS
Posted 10 months ago by Sarah
It’s not hard to forget that Square Enix actually has several prolific RPG series to their name with Final Fantasy so often getting all the attention. However, another of their franchises, Valkyrie Profile, has slowly been making its way back into the spotlight. Originally released in 2000 for the PlayStation, 2006 saw both a PSP remake and a PS2 sequel of the critically acclaimed game. Now it looks like the Nintendo DS will be getting its own installment.

According to Kotaku via Jump Magazine, the new handheld version will be called Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One. It will be the first of the Valkyrie Profile games to feature a male protagonist. The story will center around Wilfred, a disgruntled soldier who is actually plotting vengeance against the Valkyries. The classic profile view will be intermingled with an isometric view.

Obviously, I’m already excited for the prospect of a new Square Enix RPG. However, as this is the first we’re hearing about it, the game is probably a little ways off. That will give me time to brush up on my Valkyrie Profile mythology by playing the PSP and PS2 versions. Just keep the role-playing games coming, Squenix, and I’ll be one happy customer.

Yeah, I just got through it. There's some parts that are kinda hard (One late boss will do over 100,000 damage nearly every turn; more than enough to kill your whole team thrice over...Luckily, there are abilities that make this manageable.), but it's a good game. You definitely need a guide or FAQ to get the real ending, though.
