- Wii and DS Outsold in Japan By... PSP?!
- Posted 5 months, 1 weeks ago by Sarah
Well, this is a surprising bit of news. We all know I’ve got nothing against Sony, being in possession of every system they’ve ever made, but over in Japan, they love Nintendo. A lot. So it comes as a bit of a shock to hear that the Sony PSP outsold both the Wii and the DS in Japan for the week ending March 2nd.
With 73,706 units sold that week, 20,000 systems more than the previous week, the PSP reigned supreme. In second place was the Wii with 64,535 units, followed by the DS with 51,922 systems. Lagging behind them were the PS3, PS2, and Xbox 360, in that order. It seems like Sony is finally picking up momentum this year with both the PSP and the PS3, neither of which have had exactly phenomenal sales, especially when compared to Nintendo’s systems.
Of course, it’s also possible that everyone in Japan already has five DS systems and two Wiis, so maybe they’re just trying something new. Not that I blame them, as I am personally loving my PSP with the recent release of several awesome titles. Perhaps this trend will soon be making its way to the United States? Only time will tell.

Maybe the bundles Sony is throwing out there have escalated the PSP's popularity. I know when the God of War bundle comes out I'll be jumping on the bandwagon.
