Video - Penny Arcade Game Panel
Posted About 1 year ago by Sean
How much more can I say about the great time I had at the Penny Arcade Expo? It had it all! Cool people, sneak peeks galroe, and kick-ass music. Being more of a console guy, I was most looking forward to high-def, next-gen gems like Kane & Lynch, Haze, and Turok. And I got to see all of those games, and for real, they looked sick. But for me, the highlight (and surprise) of the show had to be Hothead Games upcoming game based on the Penny Arcade comic strips: On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I have to tell you that part of my excitement comes from the fact that the game will ship initially on Macintosh (along with Windows, Linux, and XBLA). I may have to double check the math, but I think that this means that for the first time in about four years, Mac will have more games available than Virtual Boy... But the biggest factor that Precipice has going for it is that it just looks like fun. And at the end of the day, that's why I game. For fun. Don't get me wrong, I still love to get my kill-on in shooters like GRAW and Rainbow Six, but I find myself enjoying Wii Sports just slightly more. Maybe its cause I'm old (you'll get there!), but it's cool because I know I'm not the only one gaming like that. We just don't have fifty hours to dedicate to mastering every game that comes along. Anyway, Coop and I talked to the team at Hothead at their booth, and later took in the panel. Here's the highlights of the panel. The vid is kind of long, but it is really worth it. Not only do you get to see the gang at Hothead (who, to a person, could not have been nicer...), you can check out a trailer of On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness, a comedic-cartoon-Steampunk-RPG-action-adventure:
