Details Emerge on Madden '08 DS
Posted About 1 year ago by Sean
John Madden football has been the unquestioned king of video football for over a decade. Others have come and gone, some better, some worse; but no one sells like Madden. Sadly though, gamers have long complained that Electronic Arts has been on cruise control with game innovation; content to just update the rosters, and maybe add a new kind of tackle. But the fact remains that gamers still buy Madden, so EA would be hard-pressed to say that their model isn't working. But that doesn't mean that they aren't aware of the perceived laziness. In a blog on the EA Sports website, developer Russ Kiniry reveals some tantalizing details about what gamers can expect to be different in a DS version of Madden NFL '08. Here's some highlights, taken directly from the blog entry: "New Player Models - The dev team was able to push even more detail into those guys and work on the lighting, they look great. Tackle Animations - As much as I love the old versions of Madden this is a welcome addition to the DS, you can wrap up and get some pretty big hits. More Multiplayer - Expanded Wireless games to have 8 in one game and added Wi-Fi games. Now wherever you can get a Wi-Fi connection and a DS, you can get a game with somebody. Redone Kicking Controls - Much better this year. Touch Controls - Player select on Defense using the touch pad and now you can pass to any spot on the field on Offense using the touch pad. Paper Football - That's right Paper Football, I love this mode. We used to play paper football everyday at lunch time when I was a kid, and to add it to the DS has been a treat for me. Not only is it like the game you know and love, we've added some nice twists you can use in the ultimate mode." Yeah... that's right, paper football! I'm not sure if that alone makes it a great game, but what the hell, I buy Madden every year anyway... Just like you... Source

who needs the hassle of making a paper football out of paper when you can just boot that $130 ds up and play that $30+ game and simulate paper football.
