Gamervision's 2nd Annual Summer Solstice Guitar Hero Tournament
Ah summer... Whether it be the annual family barbecue, the 4th of July fireworks show, or the customary application of aloe to sunburned skin, summer is the season of tradition. If you're anywhere near Philadelphia, PA, you most likely already know that one of the most lasting and important of all summer traditions is Gamervision.com's Annual Summer Solstice Guitar Hero Tournament at the Kimmel Center. Well if you've looked at a calendar recently, you already know that summer is coming up. So that must mean that it is nearly time to rock.
This year Gamervision will be invading the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall (permanent home to the Philadelphia Orchestra) for a Guitar Hero III Tournament to End All Tournaments (until the next tournament) on June 21, 2008. Admisssion to the event will be included with the Summer Solstice ticket price, and those wishing to compete can do so for only $3.00. And the best part is that all the proceeds raised from the tournament benefit Child's Play, a charity dedicated to getting games and systems to sick kids and childrens' hospitals.
The doors to Verizon Hall will open at 11PM for a one-hour free-play session. This is also the time when you'll get to sign up (if you dare!) to compete. The tournament starts at midnight and at two in the morning, we'll name a winner!
The best part this year is the prizes! Wait until you check this out:
First Prize: Four round trip tickets on American Airlines to anywhere in the US
Second Prize: A Wii Prize Pack, including a brand new Nintendo Wii with games!
Thrid Prize: A Handheld Prize Pack, including a brand new handheld console with games!
So if you're in the area, come on out to the Kimmel Center on June 21st to see if you've got what it takes to be Gamervision Guitar Hero!
And just to whet your appetite, here's the video highlights of last year's tournament, as well as a picture of this year's venue:

Anyone know the details about this? Is the tourney expert only, do we have to play bonus songs? or just playlist songs? etcetc.

It looks like we accidentally set the stage for "Enormous Pipe Organ Hero". How embarrassing....
Oh well, I'm first up!

Yeah, that's an old Child's Play logo. Our bad.
Also, I had uploaded the wrong pic of Verizon Hall. The article has been corrected to show the real venue.

Your poster says Child's Play 2007. Are you supporting last year's Child's Play, or is it a typo?

@Nikkita:
Well considering we're going to NYC the night before, a Cure concert on sat and the Nintendo Store, I think those are pretty damn good reasons. :oP
She was even considering skipping that to go to this instead. She definitely deserves that "I beat my boyfriend at Guitar Hero" shirt.
