Microsoft announced today that
Halo 3 set the world single sales day record the launch of any entertainment product. This means that not only did it have the single biggest day for a video game, it had a bigger day than any movie, album, or book. The one day total for the game? How about
$170 million?!
Before the game ever hit store shelves, it had already broken records with 1.7 million units pre-ordered. And with $10 million spent on marketing, and over 10,000 retailers across the country hosting midnight release parties (some were
cooler than others of course...), Halo almost couldn't have missed.
Granted, movie tickets generally don't cost $60, and even the Special Edition Harry Potter's wasn't $130. So the record should be taken with a grain of salt. Still though, those are impressive figures by anyone's reasoning.
personally I enjoy salt on my fries. Is that what we're talking about?
and more people watch movies and read books in the world then play video games. so take what with a grain of salt?
