Wii Ghostbusters to Integrate DS
Posted 6 months, 3 weeks ago by Sean

The highly anticpated Ghostbusters game, scheduled to arrive in October, has got aging fanboys the world over psyched to bust them ghosts at full 1080i with complete on-line integration. But for Wii users, the experience is going to be a bit different. No HD graphics for you Wii users, nor can you access a network the size of XBL or even the PSN. I mean hell, the Wii version is being developed by a completely different company from the other next-gens.

But fear not Wii lovers, you're also getting your own unique content. In a story on videogaming247, we learned that the Nintendo DS will be integrated into the gameplay. Apparently the handheld device will function as a PKE (Psycho-Kinetic Energy, btw) meter. Essentially, your DS will start beeping and blinking if you're near ghosts or their gooey ectoplasm.

Personally I am a big fan of handheld integration. I remember fondly playing games like Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and Splinter Cell (okay, and maybe Animal Crossing...) on my GameCube with the Gameboy integrated. I loved that while the games didn't need the additional device, having one plugged in made for a much more complete experience. It's nice that 3rd party developers are finally starting to take some chances with the Wii, and I look forward to companies taking more and bigger risks on the console.

After seeing the actual gameplay I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was a solid looking game. I will probably opt for the 360 version but I will definitely give it a try on the Wii to. I can't wait to give this one a go. "Who You Gonna Call?"
