- Is Gearbox Studios Developing Halo 4?
- Posted 9 months, 3 weeks ago by ThE BuTTon SmAsHeR
A recent post on the Gearbox forums said that the stuido is looking to hire developers to work on their next big project. Specifically, they’re looking for someone to fill the role of lead artist on the big mystery project. But the mystery surrounding this makes us wonder: What is the huge title they're looking to start?
I’ve started a new project. It’s big. It’s, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big. I’m Directing it myself. I can't mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one.
I’m looking for some talent from outside of Gearbox to join us for this one. Specifically, we need a super senior artist – lead artist or art director level. Can you motivate and inspire others while making sure they’re productive? Do you know the tools and techniques for this gen’s AAA? Want to do something that is going to be super relevant - that everyone will notice and play when you're finished? You’ll work directly with me (and a kick-ass team) and you’ll define a *lot* of the game’s look and feel (and you’ll get to contract the best concept artists in the world to help you).
The rumor mill has started up that all the secrecy around this announcement must mean that Gearbox has secured the rights to make the next Halo installment. The fact is that Gearbox has already taken part in the development of the Windows port of Halo: Combat Evolved, which to a lot of the gamers regarded as one of the greatest games ever made. And with the departure of Bungie, Microsoft might look elsewhere to continue with the series that made the Xbox flourish. So why not let a credible studio like Gearbox develop the next installment?
