- What Are You Playing This Week?
- Posted 7 months, 2 weeks ago by Veggie Jackson
This is the week where I finally break free from the hypnotic spell of GTA IV. I still haven’t beaten the story mode, but I’ve played enough over the last few weeks that I can now see myself forgoing yet another Deathmatch or GTA Race to play something else. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll still find me in Liberty City from time to time this week, but it won’t be quite as constant as before.
I’m working my way through Final Fantasy XII right now, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s working its way to being my favorite Final Fantasy yet. I’m currently working my way through the Nalbina Dungeons, dispatching wave after wave of annoying zombies and those Mimic Spiders that I know Coop loves so much. Although I’m enjoying the story so far, I have no idea where it’s going. I just added the “traitorous” Basch to my party, and sadly, he’s been utterly useless so far. Perhaps when we get him a weapon, he’ll be able to contribute.
There’s not a whole lot of big games coming out this week, but I will be picking up Super Dodgeball Brawlers for the DS. For some reason, I’ve always been a sucker for dodgeball games, and this one features “over 100 ball-busting special attacks!” Let’s hope it’s the red rubber kind of ball that’s getting busted.
I’ll also be going a bit retro this week, as I often do, and trying to get through the excellent Gamecube title, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. For those who missed this out-of-nowhere classic, it’s kind of a survival horror/puzzle/action game that takes place over a span of several centuries. It looks great, has a mind-bending, intriguing plot, and features a sanity meter that, when it gets too low, causes the game to seriously mess with the player’s head. Think of the Psycho Mantis fight in Metal Gear Solid and you’ll get the idea.
Other than that, daily Brain Age checks, a smattering of Phantom Hourglass, the new Penny Arcade game (which is way more fun than it has any business being) and some Guild Wars will be filling my schedule this week. And GTA IV. Always GTA IV.
So how about you guys? There’s not a whole lot of worthwhile new games coming until June, so what games will be holding you over until Hulk, Bourne Conspiracy, Ninja Gaiden II and GRID come out?

Just finished playing On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. Awesome game, can't wait for episode two. They did such a good job with coherence of comic strip cut scenes to gameplay.
I just picked up FIFA '08. Four games in and I haven't scored a goddamned goal.
I just recently got a 360, so I'm plugging away at the must-plays.
Portal, then Assassin's Creed, followed by GTA IV and sporadic Burnout Paradise.
Hopefully I'll have energy for the rest of Orange Box and COD4 when those are done.
Sex.
Finally freed up some time to play Condemned 2.....
cod 4 and gta right now
Oh, and Basch is probably my favourite Final Fantasy character so far.
I've got some games ready to be played, but I haven't stepped up to them yet.
Army of Two: If anyone here has it, message me on XBL. I want some one else to play with.
Beautiful Katamari: Need some...stuff first.
Burnout Paradise: I could use that...stuff...I guess.
Other than that, I'm waiting on Quake Wars for the 360. I had fun with it for PC, but I couldn't run it smoothly.
Tiger Woods 08
Working on Lost Odyssey. Just beat PAA: OtRSPoD: E1 yesterday.
Age of Conan, DDO, Haze (yeah...), and maybe something else. Might jump back to Liberty City now that you're out.
I've found myself playing GTA IV a lot less over the past few days, although it is still in the back of my mind. I've almost completed the Penny Arcade game, which has been a lot of fun, and had the misfortune of playing Myst DS (more on that to come).
Also, I lost 3.5 pounds with Wii Fit. Woo!
This week is Drake's Fortune, Crisis Core (yep, I'm behind), GTA IV and a borrowed copy of Valhalla Knights.
I recently bought a gaming computer so I've been playing ROSE a lot. Except for the hours of GTA IV last night.
