- Brett Favre Is A Jet

Pretty much everyone who hasn’t taken a summer vacation off-planet is aware of the Brett Favre situation that has unfolded over the last few weeks. We all know that after canceling his retirement, he went to the Packers training camp, left early on the first day and was traded to the NY Jets promptly thereafter. Unfortunately, all the copies of Madden NFL 09 were printed before this Jets development, and they all went out with cover-boy Brett wearing his familiar Green Bay jersey. Even worse, in the game itself, Brett is included only as an NFL Legend, and while he can be turned into a free agent and signed by any NFL team, the version we get is some sort of 99’s-across-the-board Omega-Favre.
Due to the fact that we live in the space aged future, these problems are being remedied by EA. Most of you probably already know that the mere act of playing an online game will update your rosters to include Brett the Jet in his proper place, so if you haven’t gone online with the game yet, do it. The cover is certainly a less impactful issue, but for those with crippling OCD who care about their game displays, a solution exists. EA has published a new version of the cover on their site which shows the same exact image of Brett, but Photoshopped into a Jets jersey. The digital altering of the pic is nearly flawless, and downloading is easy as could be. Printing the thing in the right size, however, can be a bit of a pain. Of course, if you bought your game from Sam’s Club, that too is a non-issue. People who buy the game at any Sam’s Club that includes a photo center can have a new, high gloss, high res cover printed for them while they wait. It’s a great service, but it’s a shame that Sam’s Club won’t print covers for anyone who bought their copy anywhere but Sam’s (including Wal*Mart). That way I wouldn’t have this crappy, muddy, low res, low-gloss cover slapped around my brand new green case.
