Yeah, we had the same policy too: employee and manager get fired. I never worried too much, because you're right, it's not hard to ask for ID. Sometimes you get adults pissed off because you're carding them and they don't have any identification, but you know what, don't leave your house without your ID next time.

Anyone caught selling an M-rated game to minor gets canned and so does the Store Manager in my region at GameStop. Don't know if that's company-wide... we all thought it was a hoax until 19 people including a bunch of managers were axed.
Plus, how hard is it to check someone's ID... and if it cuts down on wack jobs like Jack Thompson condemning the content of games despite the fact that they are meant for mature audiences them I'm all for it.
Not surprising that GameStop got good marks for checking IDs, since anyone who gets caught selling an M-rated game to a minor gets canned.
