It’s a huge week for EA.  In addition to yesterday’s announcements about Skate, Burnout, Need For Speed, KotOR and Mass Effect sequels, the publishing giant today announced a release date for Spore, as well as info on upcoming Sims titles.  Spore, the much delayed sim-everything game, will allegedly drop on September 7, 2008 on the PC, Mac, Nintendo DS, and mobile phone platforms.  I say allegedly here because even though EA is 100% set on September 7, this game has been in development for about six year now, so any “hard dates” need to be taken with several grains of salt.  Those who simply can’t wait that long for Will Wright’s opus can pick up Spore Creatures for the DS before September 7, though an actual date as not yet been given for this limited version of the game.

EA will also be extending the obscenely profitable Sims franchises this year with MySims Kingdom, MySims Party, SimAnimals and SimCityCreator.  Seeing how the Sims franchise netted EA hundreds of millions last year, this comes as a surprise to absolutely no one.  The Spore news is promising, though, even if I don’t believe it 100%.
